About Jim

A harmonious whole will never exist or communicate effectively without first having established a sound composition based on an understanding of the elements of design.

I was born and raised in Columbia, Missouri where I studied art at Columbia College, graduating with an BFA. I then studied art at the Art Students League of New York and continued studies in Europe.

I worked in the screen printing and advertising industry for 30 years, working with ad agencies across the country producing displays for retail. I have also been involved in construction and design that incuded actually building, wiring and plumbing. I was also a master drywall hanger/finisher.

I moved to Colorado in the 1990’s where I met my fiber-artist wife. We have great discussions about art, usually around our shared passion for color and texture.

I have entered many art competitions and have received awards for my pastels. I have been fortunate to sell my oil and pastel works. I am humbled and honored when others appreciate what I have attempted to communicate through my art. And, I enjoy the heck out of creating!

I hope you enjoy my work.
